We're thrilled to announce that the 2024 harvest season is shaping up to be one of the most exceptional in recent memory. With reports of incredible fruit quality and abundant yields, we're excited to share the fruits of our labor with you.
Our harvest kicked off on September 5th with a picking of estate Zweigelt, destined to become a dry rosé. Departing from our usual Cabernet Franc base, this year's Zweigelt offers a unique flavor profile and a beautiful, almost iridescent pink hue.
On September 17th, we welcomed in a stunning batch of Pinot Noir. The grapes, ripened under unusually warm September weather, reached an impressive 24 Brix—a testament to the Finger Lakes region's growing potential for producing high-quality Pinot Noir. Brix is a measure of the sugar content in grapes. Winemakers carefully monitor Brix levels to determine the optimal time for harvest. By harvesting grapes at the right Brix level, they can produce wines with the desired balance of sweetness, acidity, and alcohol.
Next up was Valvin Muscat, a key component of our Bagg Dare blends. The Valvin fruit this year is exceptionally delicious, with a delightful sweetness reminiscent of Trix cereal.
Finally, our head winemaker, Aaron Roisen, is particularly excited about the 2024 Gruner Veltliner. He envisions crafting a lighter, more approachable wine that showcases the grape's unique character.
As the harvest progresses, we'll continue to share updates and insights into the winemaking process. Stay tuned for more exciting news and delicious wines to come!
