Bombshell's Premium Series is a collaborative effort with Red Jacket Orchards (Geneva, NY). Crafted with a commitment to quality, each cider in this series is a tribute to the art of cidermaking. The first release in the series was made with Gold Rush apples (available for tasting and purchase now). “Sweet-tart apples like Gold Rush are great in hard cider because they bring a more complex flavor than a simply sweet apple, and the spicy flavor of the Gold Rush gives the cider more depth.” - Brian Nicholson (Red Jacket President/CEO/Owner). Enterprise will be released in June followed by Granny Smith in the fall.
Red Jacket has been cold-pressing juice for over 65 years, their philosophy is to keep it “pure, fresh, delicious”. Founded in 1958 by Joe Sr. and Emily Nicholson, what began as a local fruit farm has grown to a nationally recognized brand of superior quality fruit products.
Aaron Roisen, head wine and cider maker at Three Brothers, and Justin Paolicelli, VP of Production, were discussing the interesting aspects of varietal expression in wines throughout the Finger Lakes when they wondered why there wasn't more of a focus on specific apple varieties. They reached out to Brian Nicholson to ask about Red Jacket's varieties and how accessible they are. The result was the Premium Bombshell series.
